TONYPANDY H S PRESENTATION EVENING.
The members and friends gathered together on a cold and wet January night to celebrate the winners of the 2015 racing season. Despite the inclement weather outside, the atmosphere inside the hall was warm and friendly and those present were treated to the usual excellent buffet provided by Ros Port and Kathleen Honeyfield – they did us all proud.
Chief guests for the night were Brian and Pam Gill along with their grandson, “Iron Man” Jamie.
Brian gave a short speech and was quickly on to the prize presentation.
Leading the way this year, after being runner up for the previous two seasons, was Jason Bright flying under the banner of Norman Bright & son. Jason is greatly assisted with the birds by family friend Evan Howells who is always on hand when Jason is working his 12 hour shifts. Evan has not been in the best of health lately and all the members wish him a speedy return to good health. Jason’s winnings for the season amounted to a staggering £518 plus 11 x 1sts; 9 x 2nds ; 9 x 3rds; 9 x 4ths & 13 x 15ths and 18 trophies including the Dan Watkins Trophy for highest points winner. Super flying Jason and congratulations from us all.
In the runner up spot this year after finishing as top fliers in the 2014 season was the Blaenclydach partnership of Tony Southwood & sons. Tony and son Anthony are another dedicated partnership who, like Jason, work very hard to achieve their well deserved success. The Southwood haul for the season amounted to £258 in prizes and pools along with 6 x 1sts ; 8 x 2nds ; 9 x 3rds ; 7 x 4ths & 5 x 5ths plus 8 trophies.
Next up at third highest prize winner was young Gary Davies or as our secretary Viv Port refers to him “Mrs Davies’s little boy”. Gary enjoyed one of his best and most consistent season’s racing with 1 x 1st ; 3 x 2nds ; 1 x 3rd ; 3 x 4ths & 2 x 5ths plus three trophies.
Others with lesser amounts were B. Moon; Keith English & grandson Liam; Watkins, Son & Cockcroft, Gareth Evans; Viv Port & son; Lee Davies; Gerald Honeyfield; Iles & Lewis and Tony Biggs.
The evening was completed with the excellent artist Samantha Link who sang a medley of old and new songs which were much appreciated by the gathering.
Yet another enjoyable night spent in good company - our thanks to Brian, Pam and Jamie for taking the time to share the festivities with us.
